Chris Lawrence

Chris Lawrence is a multidisciplinary artist, designer and educator based in Philadelphia, PA. His work takes variable forms—sculpture, installation, painting, video, sound, design, print—and aims to explore scenarios revealed when elements of chance intersect with the designed / built.
Chris earned an MFA from the University
of Pennsylvania. He has exhibited work and created projects in Philadelphia, PA; New
York, NY; Minneapolis, MN; Los Angeles, CA; Portland, OR; Houston, TX; Washington, DC; Adliyah, Bahrain; Beijing, China; and Melbourne, Australia.
As a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Design, Chris teaches studio art courses which introduce students to design foundations, animation / time-based media, designing with code, publicly engaged art, and critical exploration
of digital culture / contemporary art making. Additionally, he teaches foundational Visual Studies courses in the Department of Art & Art History at Drexel University’s Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts and Design.
